Spirals of InquiryThis framework will help us shift from a focus on instruction and teaching to a focus on deeper forms of learning, from summative assessment to formative, from teaching in isolation to teaching teams working as learning communities and from external centralized pressure to local internalized commitment, capacity building and responsibility. About Me

I am currently the principal of Valleyview Secondary in the Kamloops-Thompson School District and completed the TEL program at UBC in July, 2017. My formal education also includes undergrad degrees in music and education as well as a Masters in Educational Technology. My diverse learning has been helpful in my quest to explore ways to cultivate environments that tap into students' unique passions and make their learning meaningful.
I continue to be committed to my own learning and am working together with my staff and the District's Spiral Support Network towards establishing a culture of reflection and curiosity throughout our schools. I believe in the power of gathering new knowledge and sharing experiences along the way, whether these be successes or failures. In doing so, our collective story is richer and we have the comfort and encouragement of others who travel along the path with us. - Barb Hamblett
